We've been giving our famous sourdough starter away to anyone who wants some of it for years, and we're still continuing that policy today. If you want to take some home, bring a plastic bag or a container with a lid and take a cup or so home with you. When you get home, mix up equal parts flour and water, then dump in the starter. In a few hours (6-10) you'll be ready to start baking with it.
In addition to feeding it regularly and keeping it active, the best way to ensure that you have a supply of healthy sourdough for the long term is to give some away to anyone who wants it. This way if you ever lose yours you'll have a place to get some more.
The only stipulation to our offer is that we don't mail it. If you want some you're welcome to it, but you have to pick it up in person.
