In this workshop, you'll learn the basics hot-tent winter camping using canvas wall tents outfitted with wood stoves while you learn to live on snowshoes and transport gear on toboggans and sleds. We'll cover different tent styles, wood stove construction, and what you need from a sled or toboggan. We'll also have an optional toboggan-making course the day prior to the start of the course. You'll be amazed at how comfortable you can be in the winter bush using techniques that predate the current mountaineering-oriented style of winter camping.
